Illness / Sickness
Please remember to follow the Public Health England guidelines about when a child should or should not stay home from school. In particular please note:
- If your child has Diarrhoea and/or Vomiting they should remain at home until 48 hours has passed since the last episode of Diarrhoea and/or Vomiting.
- If your child has a high temperature (38°C or above) they should not attend school until the fever has gone away
- Individuals with mild symptoms such as a cough, runny nose, and headache who are otherwise well can continue to attend school
If you are keeping your child at home due to illness please remember that you must contact the school every day that your child is not attending either by email (office@stphilips.cambs.sch.uk, not phase emails please) or by leaving a message on the School phone (01223 508707, option 1).
If you are not sure whether your child needs to stay at home due to illness please see the links below for guidance

Thank you for helping to prevent the spread of disease in our school community.
Equipment
There will be no need for children to bring pencil cases into school. All classrooms have appropriate equipment and any child who brings one in will be asked to keep them in their bags ready to go home. Water bottles can be brought in by all children, however we ask that all bottles are reusable or plain and not branded, e.g. PRIME bottles are not allowed.
Children should NOT bring toys and games into school (unless arranged with the school). Please be vigilant in monitoring what is coming in from home. Items can be easily broken and it can be distressful for some if a toy is lost. Thank you all for your understanding.
Premier Education
Premier Education works in partnership with the school to deliver wraparound care. Children enjoy a wide variety of activities, including arts & crafts, team challenges, baking, football, dodgeball, movie night and more.

Lunches and snacks
Please remember to order any hot school lunches via School Grid (https://app.schoolgrid.co.uk/) by 8:30am on the day you wish to order lunch for.
If you think you are entitled to Free School Meals for your child, please fill in the online form found at https://cambridgeshire-self.achieveservice.com/service/Apply_for_Education_Welfare_Benefits. If you have already been informed your child is eligible for Free School Meals please contact the School Office to ensure this is added to your account.
Children in Pre-School, Reception and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit/vegetable for their morning snack each day. They do not need to bring in other snacks unless they are staying for an extra-curricular club.
Children in Key Stage 2 can bring in a healthy snack for their morning break. We encourage fruit, vegetables, crackers, rice cakes, cereal bars or similar. Cakes, chocolate, crisps etc. are not allowed
Please remember that we do not allow any nuts or food containing nuts (e.g. peanut butter, Nutella etc.) on the school site as we have children in school with severe allergies.
Birthday treats
We know that some children like to bring in treats for their class to celebrate their birthdays. Please bring in individually portioned items in a sealed container and give them to the class teacher at the beginning of the day. Class teachers will hand out treats at the end of the day. We ask for safety reasons that hard sweets are not brought in.
If your child has an allergy that means they cannot eat many of the treats, you are welcome to bring in some for the teacher to keep in the class.
Lost Property - please name all uniform and personal items!
As part of their Optio jobs the Year 6s will collect any lost property left around the school. Most named items will be returned to the child's class. Any other items will brought to the foyer outside of the school office and hung up on the rack or left in the box. Anything not collected within two weeks will be donated to charity.
To ensure we have as little lost property in school as possible please remember to name all items that come to school, especially those that are likely to be separated from your child during the day (e.g. PE kit, gloves, coats, jumpers, water bottles, lunchboxes etc.).
Walk your wheels
For the safety of all of our school community we ask that all bikes, scooters etc. are pushed and not ridden on any part of the school site (including in the large playground) at drop off and pick up times each day.
Please can all parents and carers ensure that they and their children are "walking their wheels" (including reminding Year 5 and 6 children who come to school unaccompanied).
Bike & Scooter Parking
Please encourage your children to leave their bikes and scooters in a considerate way at the beginning of the school day. Where possible bikes should be left tidily in the bike park next to the Large Playground, but if your child is leaving school for an appointment during the day, is in Early Years or arrives when the blue gates are closed you can use the coloured bike racks in the car park. Please do not use the staff/visitor bike racks for children's bikes.
Please note that buggies, trailers and bike seats should not be left in car park or staff/visitor bike racks. Many thanks.
Dogs
Please remember that St Philip’s School is a dog-free site and you may not bring dogs onto site at any time, including if they are carried.
